What is DECA?
DECA is an international business club which prepares future leaders while expanding their knowledge and strengthening their problem-solving skills. The club gives students the opportunity for personal growth by enhancing their character, confidence, and creativity through simulated real-world business scenarios.
Here at Great Neck North
The DECA chapter here at Great Neck North High School is committed to helping its members enhance their business knowledge and improve their competitive event skills. Students will network with other students who are interested in Business & Marketing to prepare for local, state and national competitions. Chapter dues are $75 per student, which includes National DECA dues, New York State DECA dues, and chapter dues.
Membership Scope
DECA chapters operate in over 3,500 high schools and 275 colleges across all 50 United States, the District of Columbia, Canada, China, Germany, Guam, Mexico, Puerto Rico and Spain. With over 215,000 members, DECA has a significant impact on today's youth. 1 in 5 students at Great Neck North is a member of DECA, making it the club the largest in the school building.
DECA Competitions
There are 3 competitions that the students can compete in during the school year. The Nassau County Regional Competition, The New York State Career Conference (held in Rochester, NY) and The International Career Development Conference, also known as "DECA Nationals" (held in different locations across the country each year).
Meeting Days and Times
DECA meetings are typically held on Tuesdays right after school, in the New Lecture Hall (BK Arena). Please listen for morning/afternoon announcements for changes in dates, times, and meeting locations.
